Going to the Royal Enfield meeting in Poland
As some of you might know, due to family issues I spent some time in Poland. Due to some obligations I wasn't able to film much but I promised you I will, when I only can. So at the end of May I went to the Royal Enfield rally in Poland, or actually small meetings of a few friends, who learnt that I am in Poland and invited me to that event. Which in fact was invitation only. I can only tell you that I missed those empty Polish roads, even if it is in fact flat and pretty boring ;) Let me know in the comments what do you think.
Best regards

Some random rides in Poland and Kawasaki Versys 650 short review
Просмотров 390Месяц назад
Some of you asked me to give you some updates on what's happening with me, so here we are. My friend let me ride his bike for now, so my daily rides to the hospital are much more pleasant at the moment, thanks buddy. And now I had the opportunity to ride a bike which I always disregarded a bit... the utilitarian Versys or KLE 650. A middle weight road adventure bike. What do I think about it? C...

Welcome to the 21th part of our Italian motorcycle trip which is actually just the road back and the summary of the whole trip. Sorry folks for one more ridiculous thumbnail but it clearly works... That's the sign of our times I think, that the video alone, even with interesting I think topic won't do much against dehuminized algorithms. Nice bike , great tyres and your mods are really good. How do you like this bike and what model is it I really like it!
It is BMW Urban GS 2017. I really like it to be honest
You used narrow track trains when young? I thought you're like 35-40.
49 mate ;)
@@UncleLongbeard for some reason I always have had the impression, that narrow track was abandoned close to 100 years ago.
@@theodorstravels it was all built until late 50's I believe. But it was in use till the early 90's in Poland
@@UncleLongbeard That's fascinating actually. I always thought by the time I was born, all narrow tracks remaining were only for entertainment purposes. We still have some tracks around here, like few hundred meters, or so, with small old steam trains.
I enjoyed the video, good to see you back.
I'm back but not for long mate. On Saturday I'm riding my beemer to Poland...
LOL RIP BMW
Some lovely bikes there, good to see back making videos 👍🏻
I'm slowly getting back but this year will be a bit different for me certainly
Good to see you about and about Uncle Longbeard. Great looking roads for riding when the weather co-operates.
weather cooperates only when I'm not expecting anything ;) You will see me about more often I assume.
@@UncleLongbeard Certainly hope so mate.
enjoy this one off video. you get rain, like we do in South East Virginia, US. states 100 percent rain now, and then 20 min later it states 2 percent, so i leave and 10 min later i get soaked... good friends!
I don't mind being soaked if the temperature is that high that I will be dry in a few minutes :D
@@UncleLongbeard last time i got caught in a rain storm it was in a valley, an hour later i was in the mountains were it was 50 degrees and being soaked sucked. but it makes a story! i enjoyed yours.
@@BlakesPipes exactly, we don't memorize it usually when everything goes as planned. Very often we just remember the worst of it, which is brilliant ;)
Really leaning towards one for my first bike. Love the look. Seems fast enough for me as well
Beautiful bikes, thanks for sharing.
96 / 5 000 You passed through some beautiful places and did some driving before finding a place to sleep.
Magnificent mountainous landscapes
Brilliant place to be honest
A beautiful road and landscapes with lots of bikers. Top.
A beautiful motorcycle with the rapeseed fields in the background and what a beautiful place. Take care of yourself and your family.
Thank you, I will. Now I'm back in the UK but going again to Poland soon
The family now, i unserstand.
What a road trip, with rain and fog at the beginning, not easy to drive and a long return to England.
wouaouhhh it so beautiful, the road, the landscapes and the incredible zoom of the camera.
I've been considering buying this bike but I'd like a seat like the stock one of the Honda CB900C. I'm a fan of true classic bikes. I despise the cafe racer style, especially where the seat is concerned. Ugly has never been my thing. Because of this seat, I'm still considering a 1980's original bike.
Old bikes have much more comfortable seats.
I have w650 model 2000. Orginal seat is not good. I bought from Omega racer new seat. Its much better.
Have not been able to locate a W 800 in the Bay Area and Boise as well need help?
This isn't actually a fair test of the vibration dampening. If the phone is doing it's job really well, it will compensate for the vibrations to stabilize the video, making it look like the mount dampeners are doing their job. I'd like to see a test that just measures the vibration going into the mount and the vibrations at the phone mount end. I don't know how that's done and this video does shed some light on the subject. Personally, I mounted a dampening mount and a hard mount and just touched both while riding. I couldn't detect any difference in how they felt and therefore concluded that dampening mounts are a marketing gimmick. I suspect that somewhere around 80% dampening is required to be effective, not some indiscernible amount, but I'd like to have some actual hard data to back that up.
The phone has not doing any stabilization as the phone I used for the test has no stabilisation whatsoever. Therefore it is showing how many of those vibrations are getting to the phone. So in fact those dampeners are helping in a VERY limited way.
sounds good old.
Hi.... What about the rear drum brake? Is it a disadvantage?... Thanks
Since 2019 it's got a disc with abs. I prefer drum for the looks. It works absolutely fine
Thank you very much, I asked because I am thinking of buying a second-hand 2014 model with drum brakes. It is a good idea? Will it work well in 2024? My main question was the drum brakes...thanks.
@@RoyRam-ip4kx nothing wrong with rear drum brake. It works well, but you won't have an ABS
Hello, wonderful... I remember not having bought that motorbike, because it had a drum brake on the rear, at some point during your trip, did you notice this feature? Was it a disadvantage?... thank you
Test brake is no different than on my other bikes. The only problem with the drum brake is that it'll never have abs. But it'll never fail and you don't need to replace breaking fluid
Totally agree. Use a rugged phone. And have a spare. $80 extra a year for a burner phone sim. Dmd2 all the way!
what is that extra dial on the right?Great ride
I pack the poles to my tent and the fabric separately. I pack the fabric inside a small compression bag. It's surprising how much space you gain this way.
smashing!
brilliant series!
Thanks mate but I doubt a bit in that ;) I mean I think I improved the sound quality quite a lot in recent videos ;)
Never trust a Hippy never trust a Hipster.
Cut the music. I had to give up.
No problem, just turn it off
Take it easy. Bubs. I never liked people. That judged me what I ride. After all if the she fits ware it. Lemay. Nelson. Vancouver Washington. Pacific Northwest. USA.
I had a couple of new Japanese bikes, a Honda and a Suzuki back in the 70s, the finish was exactly the same, a thin layer of lacquer over the alloy, which was great until the corrosion set in, then had to do the same, rub it all off and polish.
All the best and well done on being there for family, it's the important stuff of life
Enjoyed that, will have to catch up to see this set up in use. A small tent is good until it rains for a whole day and you're stuck or you can't kneel to pee in the night (always have a comfort bottle) and have to flip and flop like a fish to get dressed! Have two tents, one small and one bigger depending on whether you're moving on every day or staying for a couple of days
True but in the case of all day rain forecast I would book a hotel 😁
nice one
Nice landscape
Nice of your friend to loan you their pride and joy 🙂
To be completely honest, he doesn't like that bike, so that's why ;) Probably he's going to sell it and will be looking for something a bit more characterful
@@UncleLongbeard 🤣
nice one
As a professional polisher a 360 grit will take out dullness with fat. Then a sisal mop to cut out lines and dullness with alloy polish in bars from industrial polishing supplier. A stitch mop on a spindle with polish will give it a deep shine and a spray laquer will protect it from salt etc but wont last on parts that get hot. Reminds me of the old BSA twins a bit. ❤❤❤
Shortened reverse cone megaphones from wassell are cheap and universal silencers. Will work with carb easier.
Far more simple to work on and very reliable and long lasting. Far better than unreliable moneypit KTM.
indeed
Great video and the bike is a stunner! One question: is the power output "enough" for doing motorway overtakes? I'm not a massively fast rider but I would want something that's happy to sit happily at 75mph and manage a few uphill overtakes on the A1M. Is the W800 ok for that or does it start to run out of puff?
yep, 75 is fine, 80 is so so, 85 not fine ;) and the bike is accelerating reasonably fast up to 90 so you can easily overtake
What does LT stands for?
I think only Germans know that
That harmonica...
Flats = crappy area 😂😂😂 so true, shouted the wife to listen to that line 😁👍
I've tried one. Surprisingly comfortable, for not being a cruiser 😛
those roads have so many potholes I don't know how I rode it back in the days on cruisers ;) I guess I was using mostly the main roads ;)
@@UncleLongbeard or there were just fewer potholes back then. That is a real possibility too 😄
somehow I doubt it ;)
good to se you on 2 weheels. Poland is beautiful. is it malina season??
I honestly don't know as I don't like raspberries ;)

Good to see you again and catch up.
Looks very nice in the forests and by the lake. I understand what you mean about low revs and no torque, however the Kawasaki looks nice in the yellow instead of the usual green. Thanks for sharing. G.
Good to see you out on 2 wheels :)
it definitely helps to stay sane
